Stakeholder Inteview

Stakeholder’s current portal launched with API issues, IT to develop new app and redesign portal with new app vendor.

Purpose:

  1. Bring awareness to upcoming app/portal.

  2. Answer user questions about the app/portal.

  3. Drive traffic to the app store/provide a marketing page for the app stores to link to.

Success metrics:

  • Critical: Downloads of app.
  • Less Important: Views and engagement of the portal for web.

Stakeholder Concerns: 

  • Apps under similar FGCU name/Cannibalization of keywords. 
  • Soft rollout with iterative designs.

User Research

Audience to use the app primarily would include on-the-go features (Directions, Parking, Events and News) and Course Related integrations; a “One-Stop Shop”.

Personas included:

  1. Current Students.
  2. Guest (e.g. Parents, Visitors and Prospective Students).
  3. Faculty/Staff.

Competitive Analysis

Reviewed other University portal/apps and their landing pages.

Best Practices:

  • Downloadable App Store options (Apple and Android)
  • Screenshots of App Dashboard (Including App Features)
  • Feedback/Support channels
